Welcome to Midcoast Microlights, your doorway to the incredible world of recreational weightshift microlight flying or 'trikes' as they are affectionately called. With Midcoast you can experience these adrenalin machines either as a prospective pilot or simply as a thrill seeker looking to taste the highs of open cockpit flying. Alternatively we offer 'Gift Certificates' for those wishing to give a friend or loved one the experience of a lifetime.

Are they safe? Trikes have been around since the early 1900's when they were no more than a few poles and a bit of cloth to hold them together. Today aviation authorities require these aircraft to be designed and manufactured to rigid standards. Midcoast aircraft are the latest trikes from Airborne Windsports and are built to the highest aviation standards. See load and design testing.

The 'delta flex wing' is recognised as one of the most stable flying wings available today. Because it has no control surfaces and is predominantly a 'glider' wing a pilot can let go of the controls and turn the engine off. The trike essentially becomes a glider at this point with glide ratios of approximately 10:1. It's inherent stability means it simply finds it's own trim and settles into a gentle glide back to ground. Trikes also have short take-off and landing (STOL) characteristics allowing them to land in clear terrain of 100 meters or less.

Are they fun? It's difficult to describe in words the mix of adrenalin and euphoria trike flying brings to the individual. From adrenalin pumping low level flight to euphoric and peaceful cruising while watching the sunset or sunrise over the multicolored landscape or whale flights during their spring migration.
